Terms of Service
Plain-English service terms. Nothing sneaky.

The agreement
By booking a repair you agree to these terms. They form a contract between you (the customer) and Sonny's Phone Shop (a sole trader operating in Colchester, UK).
Quote vs final price
Quotes are based on the information you give us. If, on inspection, the actual damage is different (e.g. additional water damage, board-level issues, prior unauthorised repairs), we'll re-quote before continuing. You can decline at no charge.
Payment
Payment is due on completion of the repair. Card, contactless, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer or cash. Deposits may be required for parts that need pre-ordering (we'll tell you upfront).
Warranty
- 30 days on parts and workmanship from the date of repair.
- Covers part failure and workmanship faults.
- Does not cover new physical damage (drops, water, crushing) after the repair.
- Tampering, additional repairs by others, or removal of warranty seals voids the warranty.
- Warranty claims: contact us, we'll arrange a re-fix at no charge.
Data & backups
We do not back up your data before, during, or after repair. We strongly recommend you back up to iCloud, Google Drive or a computer before bringing the device for repair. We are not liable for data loss arising from the repair or from pre-existing device issues.
Pre-existing damage
If your device has prior damage (water exposure, drops, previous repairs) we'll point it out before starting work. We're not liable for issues caused by or worsened by pre-existing damage. Repairs sometimes reveal hidden faults — we'll always tell you before proceeding.
Liability cap
Our maximum liability for any single repair is the value of the repair charge paid. We are not liable for indirect losses (lost earnings, contract breaches, etc.). This does not limit liability for death, personal injury or fraud.
Unclaimed devices
If a repair is completed but not collected and paid for within 90 days of completion, after written notice we may sell the device to recover the repair cost. Surplus is refunded to you.
Cancellation
You can cancel a booking at any time before we start work. If we've pre-ordered a part for you, the part cost may be charged (we'll tell you before ordering).
Refunds
Once a repair is complete and accepted, refunds are not available except via warranty claim. If a repair fails and we cannot fix it, you only pay for parts (if any).
Insurance
We carry £1m public liability and £1m product liability insurance.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by English law. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
