FAQ
Questions, answered.
The stuff customers ask before booking. Anything missing? Drop us a message.
How long does a typical repair take?
Most screen and battery replacements take 30–45 minutes on-site. Charging port and speaker repairs are usually under an hour. Water-damage diagnostics and motherboard work can take 24–48 hours.
Do I have to bring my phone somewhere?
No — I come to you. Home, office, café, car park, anywhere in CO1–CO7 (and a bit beyond). Just say where you'll be and when.
What areas do you cover?
Free call-outs across all Colchester postcodes (CO1–CO7), Wivenhoe, Brightlingsea, Tiptree, West Mersea, Tollesbury, Marks Tey, Stanway, and Lexden. Outside that there's a small fuel charge — I'll quote it upfront.
What brands and models do you fix?
iPhone (all models from iPhone 7 onwards), Samsung Galaxy (S, A, Note series), Google Pixel, Motorola, Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Sony Xperia. Tablets including iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab. Laptops including MacBook, Windows ultrabooks. Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch. PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch.
How much do repairs cost?
Common starting prices: screen replacement from £79, battery replacement from £49, charging port from £59, water damage from £89. Quote is exact and includes parts + labour. See our repairs page for the full price list.
What kind of parts do you use?
OEM-grade or genuine where available. iPhone screens are premium aftermarket with True Tone preserved on supported models. Batteries are LiPo with full cycle-count reporting. I'll tell you exactly what grade of part you're getting before I order it.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — 30 days on all repairs. Covers the replacement part and the workmanship. Doesn't cover new physical damage (drops, water) after the repair. If something fails, I come back and re-fix at no charge.
Will I lose my data?
No. Your phone never leaves your sight during repair. I don't unlock it, copy anything, or access photos or messages. The only time backup matters is if the phone won't power on — in which case I'll discuss recovery options before doing anything.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, Google Pay, contactless. Bank transfer too. Cash if you prefer. Paid on completion — no deposits for standard repairs.
Do I need to book in advance?
For same-day, yes — usually a few hours notice works. For complex repairs (water damage, motherboard) book a day ahead so I can have the right parts in the van.
What if my phone can't be fixed?
If a repair isn't viable (e.g. motherboard fully fried), there's no charge for the diagnosis — you walk away with no bill and I'll help you figure out next steps (insurance claim, trade-in value, etc.).
Can you fix a phone that's been to another repairer first?
Yes, but I'll check it over before quoting — some shops use cheap parts that damage other components. I'll be honest if it's not worth saving.
Do you buy second-hand phones?
Occasionally — depends on the model. Get in touch with photos of the phone (front, back, screen on showing settings/about/IMEI) and I'll quote within a day.
Do you sell refurbished phones?
Coming soon — we're adding a shop section with vetted refurbished iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, Pixel and accessories. Sign up via the contact page to be notified.
Are you insured?
Yes — £1M public liability + £1M product liability through Simply Business. Documentation available on request.
